WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO DO AN APPRENTICESHIP?
I wanted to get my foot in the door in an industry i am passionate in. apprenticeships gave me the perfect opportunity to indulge this passion, develop my professional and personal skills whilst still gaining qualifications and training. the ability to gain real-world experiences, build a strong professional network and be part of a prestigious brand like Bentley was hugely attractive for a school leaver with an interest in cars like me.
PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE!
I have had a hugely positive experience getting to know the Bentley brand, our products, people and way of working. i’ve been lucky enough to be heavily involved in some of our biggest product launches and after sales support, coordinating a number of projects to help the business succeed. it’s hard work to manage this alongside college and university study, but the opportunities and rewards are well worth it.
HOW HAS YOUR APPRENTICESHIP HELPED YOU PROGRESS IN YOUR CAREER?
My apprenticeship has given me a wide range of skills and technical knowledge of the business, our products and processes. the opportunities i have had complimented this to give me some hugely valuable experiences that i can build upon to increase my career prospects. as a result, i am already taking on responsibilities for our future strategies around vehicle electrification which presents a huge opportunity for me. now and for the future.
WHAT DO YOU FEEL ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF DOING AN APPRENTICESHIP OVER OTHER TRAINING OR EDUCATION?
The opportunity to be earning whilst learning, both in the company and via education and training qualifications, cannot be understated. For me, an apprenticeship offers the most valuable and rounded opportunity for a young person to be introduced to the world of work in a positive way while having the space to continue their learning and development journey. The opportunities available on apprenticeships in companies are remarkable and not available anywhere else.
